Chris Quigg is a Distinguished Scientist Emeritus at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) in Illinois, his scientific home for five decades. He graduated from Yale University in 1966 and received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1970 under J.D. Jackson. His work on electroweak symmetry breaking and supercollider physics, which was recognized by the 2011 J. J. Sakurai Prize of the American Physical Society for outstanding achievement in particle theory, charted the course for exploration at Fermilab’s Tevatron and CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. Quigg is the author of a classic textbook on gauge theories and (with Robert Cahn) of Grace in All Simplicity, for a broad readership.
